
The Berks County Office of Aging offers
Specialized Transportation for Berks County Seniors thru BARTA and their fixed route
transportation system. BARTA provides fixed-route public transportation, that is also wheelchair
accessible. (Call-A-Lift Program)
PA SENIOR CITIZENS FREE RIDE PROGRAM:
- Age: Senior citizens must be 65 years of age or older.
- Fee: All rides are free on fixed-route buses during off peak
hours.
- Hours: Off-peak hours are Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. to
3:30 p.m. and after 6:30 p.m. Free rides are also available all day Saturday and holidays!
- Trips: If trips are made during times other than those
listed above, senior citizens must pay the full transit fare.
To participate in the program, passengers must present their Medicare card to
the driver when boarding the bus or they can obtain the Commonwealth I.D. Card at BARTA.
In order to receive the Commonwealth I.D. Card, please bring proof of age along with you.

Call-A-Lift Program, 24 hours notice is required to assure an accessible bus is operating
on the routes to be taken)
BARTA Special Services provides transportation for individuals with
